Tottenham Hotspur are back in action in the Premier League this weekend as they prepare to welcome London rivals Fulham to North London on Saturday night.

Spurs are looking to bounce back from successive defeats to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in their last two games, losing 5-3 to the French giants in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Lilywhites have not won in the Premier League since they beat Everton 3-0 at the end of October, with one win in six in all competitions since, which is why it is so important for Thomas Frank’s team to win this weekend.

They will have to get one over Fulham in order to do so, though, and it is a club that they have many connections to through players who have played for both.

As you can see in the table above, academy players like Ryan Fredericks and Josh Onomah rank at the bottom, with several less notable Spurs players before the top four.

It is hard to say anyone other than Dembele should be at the top, given that the Belgian star, renowned for his ability on the ball, is the only player on the list to play more than 100 games for the club, with 240, per FBref.

He was once ‘irreplaceable’ for Spurs, as shown in the post above from 2018, and Frank can unearth his own version of the midfielder by playing Lucas Bergvall on Saturday night.

Per FBref, the Sweden international ranks within the top 9% of his positional peers in the Big 5 Leagues and European competitions over the last 365 days for progressive carries per 90 (2.30) and the top 2% for successful take-ons per 90 (1.55).

This shows that he is one of the most productive dribblers among central midfielders in Europe, which is why he could develop into being Frank’s own version of Dembele in the middle of the park.

Bergvall, like the Belgian, does not carry a huge goal threat, having scored once in the Premier League this season, but he can get the team up the pitch with his ability to drive forward with the ball at his feet.

The Swedish star, who was dubbed a “generational talent” by the club’s head of scouting Rob Mackenzie, started as part of a box midfield against PSG earlier this week, but playing further up the pitch ahead of Archie Gray and Rodrigo Bentancur restricted how much he could drive from deep.

Therefore, unleashing him in a midfield three against Fulham on Saturday could allow him to provide supporters of both teams with a reminder of a player who once starred for them.

Sudharsan, whose No. 3 position is not yet sealed, might leave the series with some doubt still. The Atlanta Braves have not started the 2025 season as they imagined.

After enduring an 0–4 start to the campaign, they were smacked with more bad news on Monday when left fielder Jurickson Profar was suspended 80 games after a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs. Following that gut punch, they lost again Monday night, running their record to an MLB-worst 0–5.

Profar was the team's big free-agent pickup this offseason, signing a three-year, $42 million deal in January. Now he's on the shelf until late June and will be ineligible for the postseason. He joins a long list of key players who are currently unavailable as Atlanta attempts to dig itself out of an early season hole.

Longtime key contributors wore out the departures gate at Hartsfield-Jackson airport this offseason. The Braves lost Max Fried, Charlie Morton and Travis d'Arnaud in free agency and traded Jorge Soler to the Los Angeles Angels. Profar was expected to replace Soler's bat in the lineup after a breakout season with the San Diego Padres in 2024. The 32-year-old posted career highs in home runs (24), RBIs (85), OPS+ (135), and WAR (4.3) last season before hitting the market. Now, he's sidelined until at least July.

Atlanta is already dealing with a depleted roster. Star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. is still recovering from a torn ACL and will be sidelined until at least May. Catcher Sean Murphy is dealing with a cracked rib, and young ace Spencer Strider is still on the mend from Tommy John surgery. Reynaldo López, a 2024 breakout, was placed on the injured list Monday with shoulder inflammation after making his first start of the season. And to add insult to injury, reliever Hector Neris was released Monday after allowing five runs in his two appearances with the team—including blowing a lead on Opening Day.

The Braves opened 2025 against the Padres, who swept them out of the playoffs in two games last October. The result was largely the same in the opening four-game series as in October. San Diego dominated in every facet, outscoring their opponents 17–7 in the series and shutting Atlanta out in the final two games.

Monday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers didn't go much better, as starter Grant Holmes was tagged for four runs in four innings, and Tyler Glasnow teamed up with the Dodgers' bullpen to allow one run and strike out 14 Braves in a 6–1 win. It continued the team's brutal hitting woes to open the campaign.

So far, Atlanta is hitting .144 as a team with an OPS of .478, including an MLB-worst .036 (1-for-28) with runners in scoring position. Only one Brave who has played in two or more games has a batting average of .200 or better. That player? Jurickson Profar.

Things will surely improve when Acuña and Murphy are healthy, but with Profar gone, there will still be a large hole in the lineup.

The offense hasn't been Atlanta's only issue early. The team's bullpen has been downright awful so far. Braves relievers rank 24th leaguewide with an ERA of 6.19, and opponents are hitting .267 against them. Neris played a big part in those ugly numbers—the bullpen’s ERA would drop nearly two runs without his two outings baked in—but Atlanta is still dangerously short on arms it can trust in high-leverage situations.

The Braves are too good to be this dreadful, but a string of bad luck has put them on the back foot to start the season. When Acuña is back, a core that includes him, Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Michael Harris II and Murphy should be able to produce runs at a solid clip. If Strider recovers, he, Chris Sale, and a healthy López should be able to anchor a solid rotation. But that assumes no one else goes down.

Profar's suspension was the rancid cherry on top of a brutal opening week from the Braves. No Braves team to start 0–5 has ever made the postseason. The only positive spin is that Profar’s suspension frees up over $5 million in salary cap space, putting Atlanta roughly $14 million below the luxury tax threshold. The Braves may need to use that to space on some midseason acquisitions and hope their injured list gets less crowded soon, or it could be a long season in Atlanta.

Speaking exclusively with Adebayo Akinfenwa on the latest episode of the Beast Mode On Podcast, Eze praised the way the versatile forward strikes and runs with the ball and explained how Thomas Tuchel has England set up to "achieve something incredible" at the World Cup.

In the latest edition of GOAL's Beast Mode On podcast, Eze opened up on his journey to becoming an Arsenal and England star with former team-mate Adebayo Akinfenwa. Having lavished praise on former Chelsea star Eden Hazard as the player who impressed Eze most as a youngster, the former Crystal Palace man also spoke highly of Rashford as the one who stood out the most in his first training session with the national team.

The 27-year-old is now a regular in the England setup, having made his debut in 2023. Eze replaced Rashford midway through the second half in England's 2-0 World Cup qualification over Serbia last week, and wrapped up the victory for the Three Lions with a fine first-time strike at Wembley.

Rather than England captain Harry Kane or Arsenal team-mate Bukayo Saka, it's Rashford who caught Eze's eye when he first linked up with the national team. The 28-year-old left Manchester United for Spanish giants Barcelona on loan over the summer, and has shone in Spain, providing six assists and two goals as the Blaugrana look to defend their La Liga crown.

"So I've known him, or known of him, because he's played in a similar age group across the country, when you go to tournaments, you see him and stuff like that. And so I've always known he's a good player, but for that first camp, I remember going away like, ‘OK, this guy's on some other stuff’.

"The way he’s striking the ball, the way he's running with the ball, how he operates… He's an incredible, incredible player. I enjoy watching him play."

Eze has become a mainstay in the England setup and the Arsenal star is expected to make the World Cup squad for football's showpiece next summer. Thomas Tuchel oversaw a 100% qualification record as the Three Lions booked their 2026 flight with ease and many feel England have a great chance of lifting the World Cup for the first time since 1966 in North America.

When asked what it's like to work under Tuchel, Eze replied: "It’s fun working with him because he’s got good energy. He’s a positive character, always giving a good feeling to players around the camp.

"You feel very comfortable, you feel very relaxed. It helps you to be yourself on the pitch as well. Very clear in what he wants from players… specific positions and how he wants to play.

"I feel like we’ve got a good idea idea, a good foundation, a good base to achieve something incredible. That structure that he’s put in place is key to that, for sure."

Leeds United have made an approach to sign Flamengo winger Gonzalo Plata, alongside two other Premier League clubs, and a January move could now be possible.

A lack of goals has been an issue for Leeds so far this season, having scored just ten Premier League goals, the joint-second lowest figure in the top flight, with Danny Murphy bemoaning their lack of quality attacking options back in September.

Murphy said: “I think the biggest problem for Burnley and Leeds is firepower. I agree with what we talked about earlier. I think all the newly promoted sides doing well is great for the Premier League.

“I’d like to see them all stay up, actually. But I don’t think it’ll be the case.

Since then, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has continued to struggle in front of goal, having found the back just once in nine league outings, although Daniel Farke will be glad Lukas Nmecha scored his first goal from open play at the weekend, albeit in a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

As a result of that loss, the Whites are just one point above the relegation zone, sitting in 16th place, and it has been revealed they have now made an approach to sign a new forward ahead of the January transfer window.

Leeds make contact to sign Gonzalo Plata

According to journalist Fabricio Lopes (via Sport Witness), Leeds have now made contact to sign Flamengo winger Gonzalo Plata, and the Brazilian club could be willing to sanction a move in the January transfer window.

Indeed, Flamengo have become increasingly frustrated with Plata, given that he went to a nightclub before an important match, which means they will now be open to offers this winter, although there could be competition for his signature.

AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United have also made enquiries over a deal for the Flamengo star, who remains under contract until June 2029, putting his current employers in a strong negotiating position.

There may be some concerns over the 25-year-old’s off-field issues, but he certainly has plenty of ability, having been lauded as “exceptional” by scout Jacek Kulig earlier this year.

The Ecuadorian is established at international level, having scored eight goals in 45 appearances for his national side, while the versatile attacker, who is also capable of playing at centre-forward, has also chipped in with 17 goal contributions in 63 appearances for Flamengo.

Leeds may need a fresh injection of quality in attack if they are to avoid the drop, given that not a single one of their players has scored over two goals this season.

Roki Sasaki took the mound for the first time as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday as he threw live batting practice to some of his new teammates. The 23-year old's fastball and slider were reportedly on full display as he began a new chapter of his baseball life.

On Friday morning the Dodgers rookie announced that he was also beginning a new chapter of his personal life. In an Instagram post with a picture of two Dodgers hats Sasaki announced that he had gotten married. Since he's new to MLB fans, the announcement wasn't quite as unexpected as Shohei Ohtani's during Spring Training last year, but it was still pretty amusing.

According to Google Translate Sasaki thanked everyone for their support and said he had married a "non-celebrity" and was full of "hope and anxiety" as he begins his new personal and professional life.

The wedding vows probably don't translate perfectly either, but as long as his pitches do, the couple should be all set for a happy marriage.

Sasaki will make his Cactus League debut next week.

A Champions League club have made an approach for Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier, with the Frenchman’s time at Elland Road likely to come to an end sooner rather than later.

The Whites have done well back in the Premier League so far this season, steering clear of the relegation zone and more than holding their own.

New signings have settled in well and last season’s Championship players have largely handled the step up to the top flight impressively, but one figure who hasn’t featured at all is Meslier.

The 25-year-old was once a highly-rated young goalkeeper of whom big things were expected, with some even predicting that he would be Hugo Lloris’ long-term replacement for France, but he has become an error-prone figure at Elland Road, leading to him being dropped last season.

It feels like a case of when Meslier departs Leeds rather than if, with Daniel Farke making it clear he isn’t an important figure, and it now looks as though his exit may not be too far away.

According to an update from Voetbal Krant [via Sport Witness], Club Brugge have made an approach for Leeds ‘keeper Meslier, as well as rivals Anderlecht.

They are hoping to strike a deal in the January transfer window, even though it is “not an easy proposition”, but his time with the Whites is still thought to be “coming to an end”.

It feels right for all parties for Meslier’s time at Leeds to reach its conclusion, with his current situation not helping anyone, in terms of having an out-of-favour player not featuring at all at the club.

The £30,000-a-week stopper will surely want to be starting games regularly at this point in his career, and that won’t happen with the Whites, with Farke brutally honest about his shortcomings last season.

“It’s fair to say he had a poor game against Hull and his mistake for the second goal was decisive. There were a few games where he could have and should have done better. There were perhaps one or two strikes where you would expect a player of his calibre could save it when he is on the top of his game. I spoke with Illan about this and although he has had many clean sheets and many good saves he could show this with more consistency. It’s important to be honest and open.”
